Prompt request?
Blasted Scorn + disguise/dressing up
sksksk, this was an unexpected yet fun idea! i didn't think whether disguises would have a pivotal part in their adventures. however, i suppose this is making me think.^^
somehow, it turned out to be about discussion of disguises and a domestic moment. however, i wrote what i could write. ^-^ 🌊🌊🌊
send me a prompt? for any oc, dynamic, fandom characters, concepts.
Word Count: 796 T.W/C.W: None-ish
***
"Do you expect me to put. . ." Ianette shuddered, lifting a wig from the crest. ". . . this?"
"We need to be in disguises," Titanarin answered with a shrug.
Ianette simply arched a brow. "You mean need me and a few others to be in disguises. But do I need to hide my hair with it? Couldn't I borrow one of your hats?"
"If you insist, alright then." Titanarin launched out of their seat, sauntering towards a tunic from a hanger. "Okay, what about you, Kumari? What will you choose?"
After word of a corrupted duchess hosting a party at her manor, someone sold seven invitations to them. Several other people of high status would be in attendance. And they would sneak in with their crew, infiltrate the areas, where no one would bother going. No one that wasn't a thief, that was.
It would be a grand opportunity to steal some fortune, especially from those of nobility. They didn't go to these sort of events often. And when they did, they would make the most of it.
Piles of trousers, blouses, gowns, and more cluttered up on the floor. Most of them bought from a market owned by merchants that paid their seamstresses and tailors fairly. They didn't steal much in terms of clothing.
And they did stole some from people, who discarded them as if they didn't need it, anymore.
Kumari scrunched her face while examining the various gowns. Tapping a foot.
"This looks nice," Kumari remarked as she picked up a dress, stretching it's puffy sleeves. "Elegant like royalty yet modest enough for a commoner."
Eubha grinned, brimming with her usual energy. "Ooh! Can I have that?! I can pretend to be a princess!"
"Why not a queen?" Nishan asked. "After all, they have more power and reign. They get to sit on a throne. Of course, they need approval from their spouses. However, a queen that runs her kingdom on her own. . . she has freedom. However, she also needs to consider her subjects, I suppose."
"A princess has freedom too," Eubha replied. "She's still royalty, after all."
"You aren't going to dress up as royals, I'm afraid," Titanarin said with a grimace. "Perhaps, people of nobility."
"Is there any actual difference between those that are nobility and royalty?" Ianette asked dryly. "They're all the same, aren't they? People that have status and wealth they need to maintain. By following a rigid set of rules and obligations set forth by those before them."
". . . I suppose. . . You have a point," Nishan replied, her tone weak.
With a brief shrug, Titanarin opened a drawer and removed a small box from it. Setting it on a vanity table, which Eubha stared at. She picked up a powder and inhaled, only to hack up a cough. Nishan and Kumari's faces twisted as if in dismay.
Kumari still grimaced while looking at some armor pieces in their trunk. She poked it, tilting her head.
"How many of these did you manage stealing?" Nishan asked, sounding a pinch concerned.
Titanarin cackled. "Pfft, I wouldn't know. I just knew they'd be helpful, someday."
"Wouldn't they be useful for selling?" Ianette asked, making a face. "I can't fathom of not making money out of these. To people who would be happy to have such finery in their possession."
"No, they should be kept with us." Kumari frowned, clutching on a blouse. She sighed theatrically. "I wouldn't dare to think of giving these away! They're too precious to lose!"
Nishan giggled while Ianette tsked, rubbing their forehead.
When Eubha opened a small box, she gasped. "Jewels! Diamonds! Rubies! Emeralds! They're so wonderful!"
"I suppose we'd fit in like royals if we wear those." Ianette made an affirmative noise. "I'm rather gob smacked you didn't steal a crown."
"Oh, I had an attempt," Titanarin said, feeling rueful. "But those guards had been on my tail, so I had to flee. It all went accordingly to plan until some court lady. Looking for the princess, only to see me instead. And she called on them."
Ianette rolled their eyes. "You ought to have locked that door."
"Well, I was very new at the pirate gig." Titanarin scoffed. "My lack of precision is what cost me a crown. But you don't need it for your disguises."
A squawk resounded into the room as Moloky flapped her wings, soaring towards the jewelry box. She nudged her beak against an emerald, behaving as it belonged to her hoard of treasures.
"Hey!" Ianette threw their arms up. "We're trying to wear our disguises here, you irascible git!"
Eubha and Nishan shared a wild laugh. Kumari grinned, stroking Moloky along her back. Titanarin snorted, settling back into their chair.
Well then. They might take a while to get prepared for that party.

Ruby Kumari, a Unique Football Talent Making News from Bihar
A Dalit girl from Bihar who is playing football with all her hearts and brains to make a mark in the field of sports deserves an appreciation. Bihar is the only state in India that survives on the glory of the past by sacrificing the present. Normally, there is a trend in Bihar that people follow from generation after generation. They harbor an ambition to qualify for either the civil service exams or join politics to gain power. The unemployment rate of Bihar is higher than the national rate of unemployment....want to know more

Why women have a natural flair to excel in education - Times of India

Why women have a natural flair to excel in education - Times of India
Tumblr media
Education Times examines the reasons behind school education being largely driven by female teachers while it has not been a cakewalk for them in the higher education sector
Women have been ruling the education space at the school level because of their innate ability to instil a sense of security and comfort in children. “Women have a natural instinct to better understand the emotional needs of a student. This gives them an edge over their male counterparts,” says Banka (Bihar) school teacher Ruby Kumari, who made headlines for her unique Math pedagogy where she taught using one’s hands as a calculator. Hailing from the rural belt, Ruby, however, struggles to convince the parents in the villages to send their children especially girls to schools daily. “They are apprehensive about the safety of the girls but the presence of women teachers comes as a relief to them,” adds Ruby.
“What makes women successful as a teacher is their ability to multitask. They can juggle both at the home and professional front,” says Anushri Mazumdar, English teacher, Assisi Convent School, Noida.
Challenges in HEIs While women find greater acceptance as teachers at the primary level, they still do not have a stronghold in the higher education sector. ” The students, given their patriarchal background, sometimes feel that women may not be good enough to teach, more specifically the STEM subjects. Even the number of women faculty for such courses is less,” says Srabani Taraphder, professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur. In the field of Chemistry, for instance, there are less than five female professors in the entire IIT system, she adds. “It is ironical that the number of women enrolling for PhD programmes is proportional to the number of men in STEM. But by the time they receive their PhDs,” says Taraphder.
Since 1951, when the first IIT was set up in Kharagpur, no female has ever been appointed to lead an IIT. For IIMs, it was only in 2017 that the glass ceiling was broken when Neelu Rohmetra was appointed as the first female director to helm IIM Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. “The lack of women leaders in IITs arises from the fact that there is a shortage of qualified women for the highest administrative post,”says Taraphder. “Despite their aspiration, often with family as their first priority, Indian women find it difficult to meet the demands of such high-pressure jobs, which reduce their pursuance and thereby chances of being at the top. Certainly, there is need to encourage women in leadership positions to bring in the element of diversity and newness in the already established organisational governance mindset,” Rohmetra adds.
Women in research “While women are able to reach mid-management level, of ten they restrain themselves from taking on the larger responsibility of heading the institutions, fearing they will not be able to do justice to the role. Leadership roles, irrespective of gender, demand time, energy and commitment as well as taking tough measures. But due to the social conditioning, many a time, women leave this role,” says Ruchi Singh, Scientist E, National Institute of Pathology (ICMR). Echoing her, principal scientist of Physics at CERN, Archana Sharma, says, “Girls are doing extremely well in schools and also at the undergraduate level, however by the time it comes to the masters and PhD level, the numbers continuously fizzle out. Only 2.5% Nobel laureates are women. Stereotypical behaviours continue in the society and there are few role models for girls to emulate a fantastic career balanced with an equally successful family and social life.”
Sharma is hopeful of the future and believes that there is light at the end of the tunnel. “Many women researchers have made it to the spotlight at the top of their careers, battling all odds. They serve as motivation and even if this is a drop in the ocean, eventually it is a step in the right direction,” she adds.
